Life is busy, and if you are considering hiring a house cleaning company then you are probably looking for some help recovering your time. Maybe you have kids, pets, or a job that keeps you focused on work rather than keeping up the cleanliness of your home.
I can’t tell you how many clients we’ve picked up over the years whose chief complaint is “I just never really what day they are going to arrive” or “They tell me a time window and then show up 4 hours later.”
Now, what I cannot confirm, but can definitely speculate on is, that many of these new high-tech app-based cleaning companies start off with great intentions. The owners of the company think: Let’s track our cleaners! And we can use an app to let us know when they are arriving at the next customer’s home!
Here’s where the tech systems (and the promise of an exact arrival time) fail
- House cleaners are generally not tech-savvy. So they may forget to check in, update their status, or otherwise use the tool as it was designed. Fair, human error. That can be fixed with training and building a habit, right? Cool.
- Surprises are inevitable when you are dealing with humans! Surprises like a super dirty last room, changing a job scope from 3 hours to 4.5 hours, and pushing the entire day behind. Humans also get hungry. Humans also get stuck in traffic. Humans will always be the X-factor, even for tech-centric house cleaning companies.
- Things come up in the course of a day such as refilling cleaning supplies, resolving an open personal issue or just needing a break in between big house cleaning jobs. There’s still no app for refilling your bottle of Windex 🙂
Timing can be an issue if you have a dog that needs to be put out in the yard while the house is being cleaned. A fixed schedule may be important if you have young children who take naps at certain times or if you have work phone calls that need to be in a quiet environment.
Having a house cleaning company just show up when they are available can not only be disruptive, it can be a source of stress. And that’s the last thing you want from the people cleaning your home: Stress! Here at Dallas Sunrise Maids, we only have two cleaning schedules that a recurring house cleaning client can opt for: Either you are going to be our first home of the day (Between 8am – 8:15am) or our second home of the day which means anytime between 10am – 3:30pm.
We dont make any promises as to when your team is going to be arriving if you are in that second home of the day spot, other than they will always be finished cleaning by 6pm and they will always arrive between 10am and 3:30pm to get started.
With us, while you can always check with us here at the office on the day of the clean as to when your house cleaners will be arriving, we make no promises that you will always have “an afternoon arrival” or a “10am arrival” because it will depend on the property being cleaned prior to yours.
We try to set clear expectations to avoid disappointment. But if you find yourself being constantly disappointed or worse, frustrated by the arrival time, the day, and the overall schedule of your house cleaning company, it may be time to switch.
House Cleaning Quality
When the same house cleaning company is cleaning your home, time after time, they start to know what you like. They start to know your home and the areas that really accumulate dust and tend to get dirty, quickly.
That familiarity can be a wonderful thing, especially if the people cleaning your home always arrive with their A-game and know exactly where and how to attack.
But speaking as the owner of a house cleaning company in Plano, I have to recognize that some cleaners are simply not cut out for recurring house cleaning service. And believe it or not, these very same cleaners may excel at one time house cleanings and move in or move out cleanings.
Imagine this: You are cleaning someone else’s home. And when you start out, you are cleaning like gangbusters to make sure to impress your new client. You clean every room, every time and you are giving your A-game for the first few cleanings.
And then, lets say one day you recognize the same little piece of paper that you clearly missed on your cleaning last week. The following week, you see it again. But the owner of the home doesn’t say anything.
What are you going to do? Most likely breeze thru that room on future visits because you know that room is not being used and more importantly, not being checked.
Until the day that there are visitors who stay in that room and your client realizes that this room is getting missed!
How do we avoid this here at Dallas Sunrise Maids? Well honestly, I cant say we avoid it 100% of the time, but we do have systems in place to combat it, including regular and random quality checks, periodic pep talks and most importantly, a culture of constantly soliciting feedback from our clients to make sure that the quality hasnt started to slip.

Lets be honest. For the last 5 years, inflation has been a very real factor in most house cleaning businesses in Plano. Meaning some price increases are inevitable based on the rising cost of house cleaning supplies as well as labor.
That said, if you feel like you are not getting the right bang for your buck, it might be a good idea to at least have a look around.
Here at Dallas Sunrise Maids, we are very transparent about how much you should pay for a house cleaning company in Plano. Now of course, keep in mind that the first clean is always more expensive than recurring cleanings, and in our case it’s not because we are doing anything different. Its simply a matter of time, in that it always takes longer for an initial clean which will generally bring your home up to our standards. And then of course, the idea is to keep it there in the form of recurring house cleaning.
However, some house cleaning companies will try to hook you with low price on the initial clean and either gradually increase the prices or constantly have add-ons that ultimately drive up the price.
Now we may not be the right company for every client out there, but we do only have essentially one service we offer, which is a deep cleaning for every visit. Meaning weather you choose a one time deep clean, a recurring house cleaning, or a move in or move out cleaning, you know exactly what you are going to get and that’s the entire house being cleaned 🙂
An important note on the above: As mentioned, there are house cleaning companies out there who allow you to pick and choose the area of the home you would like them to clean. This can be a great way to save money! It’s not our model, but it may work for you if you’d like to keep the cost as low as possible.
The real litmus test is this: If you feel like you are paying too much for your house cleaning, it is likely stemming from the fact that you are not happy with the quality and ultimately the value of the house cleaning. So call around to get an idea on what the competition is charging and consider calling your current house cleaning company first and explaining the issue. That way, you might be able to stick with them and not have to worry about the headache of changing house cleaning companies!

There are so many house cleaning companies in Plano and the surrounding area! Which of course means that you have alot of choices. But unless you are really, really unhappy with your current house cleaning company, it’s never a bad idea to try to “make it work” with the folks who are helping you out currently.
