Do You Keep Your Toilet Brush Clean?

Do You Keep Your Toilet Brush Clean for cleaning service in in Plano, TX

Maintaining a clean toilet is essential for keeping your home healthy and free of bacteria. But did you know that you should also be cleaning your toilet brush? Studies have shown that the bristles on a toilet brush can harbor bacteria, which can then spread to the toilet bowl when the brush is used. This blog post will discuss how to properly clean your toilet brush and keep it free of harmful bacteria!

How Often to Clean Your Toilet Brush and Holder

The toilet brush and tray should be cleaned and disinfected at least once a month, if not more often. If the brush is stored correctly after each use, it should only require monthly cleaning. However, if the brush isn’t cleaned or allowed to dry after each usage, the holder should be cleaned at least weekly.

Clean Quickly With Disinfectant Spray

You may clean the toilet and the toilet brush in minutes using a disinfectant spray and a disinfectant wipe. n1 After cleaning, flush the toilet and rinse the toilet brush in the water. Hold the handle of the toilet brush head directly over the bowl of the toilet. Spray it generously with a disinfectant spray or 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, then spin it around to spray it on all sides.

Wipe down the handle with a disinfectant wipe. Clean the holder both inside and out using a second clean. The surfaces should be moist for at least 10 minutes. Balance the toilet brush handle between the toilet bowl rim and lower the toilet seat to dry. Allow the brush to air-dry thoroughly before storing it in the holder.

Disinfect in a Bleach Soaking Solution

Place a large basin or bathtub in the bathroom. Fill the bucket halfway with hot water from the stove or microwave and let it sit for 10 minutes to get all of the stains out of your toilet brush handle. Add 1 gallon of water to a pot on the stovetop or in a microwave and bring to a boil. In a separate sink, tub, or shower stall, carefully submerge your toilet brush handle and holder in the bleach solution.

Add one cup of liquid chlorine bleach to the toilet. Add the holder and toilet brush gradually to prevent splashing. Allow at least one hour for the items to soak. Remove the toilet brush and holder, rinse them under hot water for at least 30 seconds, then dry with a microfiber cloth or allow them to air-dry thoroughly before storing.

Tips to Help Your Toilet Brush Last Longer

Toilet brushes are designed to last for years, but with proper care, you can extend the life of your brush. Here are a few tips:

  • Do not store the toilet brush in the holder until it is scorched.
  • Avoid allowing the toilet brush to stand in water or cleaning solutions for extended periods.
  • Do not use a toilet brush on anything other than toilets.

With proper care and cleaning, your toilet brush will last for years and help keep your home bacteria-free!
